Shotguns absolutely dominate!

Across all levels of Fortnite, Shotguns are at the top of the charts for eliminations per match, according to blitz.gg's Fortnite weapon tracker. Why is this important?

For us, knowing the most popular weapons, the ones players like using and perhaps the ones that competitive players would like some practice with, help improve our decision making for our islands. If we’re creating a gun game , aim trainer or any game mode for that matter, knowing the above could make our islands more appealing to players and result in higher engagement.

Top new islands released this week!

According to Fortnite.gg the five most popular games to be released this week are a combination of classic box fights and 1v1 maps, two different simulators and a new horror entry!

Cleverlike’s treasure trove of free tutorials

Fresh off the presses this week, Cleverlike, a game studio and education facility, has opened the flood gates by releasing their full UEFN / Verse tutorial series for free!

As you can see from above, the videos cover a huge range of topics and would be an excellent jumping off point for any would be developer looking to try their hand at some Fortnite Islands.

While there is a lot of learning content on Youtube, Discord servers and forums, it can often be fragmented and not comprehensive. That’s why we love to see what the Cleverlike team has done. The series covers a huge range of topics, starting with basic introductions and finish up by talking you through publishing your finished product.

Creating a friendlier, more digestible way for people to get involved with Verse and FNCreative is one of the foundations to our newsletter and we love to see more people taking on the challenge!

Mercenaries [Survival MMO] - Alliance

Mercenaries by Alliance, is an large open world survival PvE experience built in UEFN, where players take the role of mercenaries for hire. You set out into a desolate world to collect loot and supplies for a company of your choosing.

The island has an extensive array of different biomes full of detail and complexity. We loved how fleshed out these apocalyptic areas felt and the high level of polish we found throughout.

We were really impressed with the level design and detail we found as we played through and found ourselves wanting to venture to each alcove of this custom world.

The island also features some nifty Verse code with features like a custom loot system, a quest systems and progress saves. The custom UI elements are a nice touch for adding that feeling of polish and separates itself from the standard Fortnite Hud. We often find custom hud’s give us higher levels of immersion compared to the default hud design.

We really feel this island is a hidden gem and not getting the attention it deserves, soo…
