Fortnite Beans Have Arrived! | Creator Island

More than three years after Mediatonic's acquisition, Fall Guys have adorably bumbled their way into the Fortnite Universe, and we're here for it!

Its been a long time coming, but its finally here with the latest, 30.30 patch! Fall Guys have made their debut in the UEFN and Creative 2.0 toolset and they’re making quite an entrance. While the patch brings a lot of other cool updates, this article is full of beans!!

The new patch brings a slew of Fall Guys adorableness with custom Fortnite Bean models ,which will automatically apply when players join Fall Guy islands, and a host of galleries full of squishy blunderdome obstacles to build from. Epic released some great documentation for this but here’s our key highlights.

Galleries On Galleries

To give Creator Beans a running start on their obstacle courses, Epic has provided three new Fall Guys galleries to use.

  • Fall Guys Components Gallery

  • Fall Guys Obstacles Gallery

  • Fall Guys Elemental Gallery A

They’re full of goofy Wipeout or Takeshi’s Castle style assets matching the squishy and colorful art style of Fall Guys. These assets have a specific scale and pivot location, different from standard Fortnite assets.

“..props and other assets are frequently larger than a single tile, the pivot points for Fall Guys assets are placed at the corners instead of at the center..”

For UEFN users, keep an eye out for the “H”,”F” and “Q” abbreviation to easy denote the different heights for obstacles.

“Height: Many building components have three distinct versions, with different heights that are relative to the standard Creative tile size: Full Height (F), Half Height (H), and Quarter Height (Q).”

Don’t Forget the Prefabs!

To build a working Fall Guys assault course, you will need a starting point, checkpoint and end point! Luckily, Epic has provided three pre-built, prefabs for each of these uses.

Make sure to seek them out and you’ll undoubtably have an easier time resetting each player who gets flung off too oblivion. Speaking of hurling players around..

Level Sequencer!

What kind of Fall Guys level doesn’t have some swinging pendulums, or some disappearing , animating platforms?!

All of these are of course possible with UEFN, but you will need to get your hands dirty with the Level Sequencer. If you’ve never used the Level Sequencer in UEFN before, its essentially allows you to keyframe animate objects in your level to your liking. We highly recommend any Creator looking to build their own Fall Guys level, to brush up on their level sequence skills and check out the great Party Game tutorial straight from Epic, which heavily utilizes the Level Sequencer for functionality.

If you need a little more help, specifically for building Fall Guys maps, here is a great round up and walkthrough on how to do exactly this by HowTwoBoss.

NOTE:

You wont be able to publish your Fall Guys island until August 6th, so you still have a few more days to throw something together for the first day of release.

“these islands won’t auto-publish so you’ll need to do it manually. Islands created with the Fall Guys starter islands may qualify for placement in a limited-time Fall Guys row in Discover.” — Epic’s 30.30 patch summary
